BEATRICE - World Premiere
In 2021, the world celebrates the 700th anniversary of the greatest Italian poet, philosopher and thinker Dante Alighieri. Giorgi Aleksidze Tbilisi Contemporary Ballet and the Foundation of Giorgi Aleksidze joined the worldwide celebration of this date.
On May 19, on the grand stage of Rustaveli National Theatre, by the concept, idea and supervision of Professor David Maziashvili Giorgi Aleksidze Tbilisi Contemporary Ballet presented new contemporary ballet “Beatrice” staged by the Artistic Director of the Company, Choreographer Mariam Aleksidze, inspired by Dante’s “The Divine Comedy”.
The production features original music created by Academy Award, Golden Globe and multi-Award winning composer Dario Marianelli for Mariam Aleksidze and David Maziashvili, commissioned by the Giorgi Aleksidze Foundation.

Giorgi Aleksidze Tbilisi Contemporary Ballet Company dancers performed contemporary ballet “Beatrice”. In the title role - principal dancer of the Company Mariam Darchia.
The original Music was performed live by Tbilisi State Chamber Orchestra "Georgian Sinfonietta".
Costumes were created by the fashion designer Tamuna Ingorokva. By the concept of Mariam Aleksidze, the scenography of the stage was the visual installation according to Konstantine Mindadze’s paintings. Graphic design by Irakli Gharibashvili.
The audience was fascinated of the synthesis of contemporary choreography with astonishing music and performing technique as well as the vision of the choreographer.
Mariam Aleksidze’s Contemporary Ballet Beatrice supported by the Embassy of Italy in Tbilisi, Georgian Public Broadcaster as well as Tbilisi City Hall, which worked to contribute to the formation of the first contemporary ballet chamber company – Giorgi Aleksidze Tbilisi Contemporary Ballet – in Georgia.
