“Gurji-Khatun”, based on Dato Turashvili’s novel, to the music by Josef Bardanashvili and with Ana Kalatozishvili’s stage design is Mariam Aleksidze’s original, ritualistic, mystical and philosophical contemporary Georgian ballet on the theme of love.
There are many legends about Gurji-Khatun, just like about her grandmother, Queen Tamar. Through the feelings, emotions, relationships and changes in the mood of the chorus and the four main protagonists, by fusing two cultures and different worlds, Mariam Aleksidze’s contemporary ballet choreography tells the story full of love and drama.
